3Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in EN ISO 12863:2010 and the followingapply.
3.1
cigarette with reduced ignition propensity
cigarette that self extinguishes when not actively puffed, before it has burnt through its full lengthNOTESee (3.2).
3.2
full-length burn
outcome of a determination in which the cigarette continues to burn to or past the front plane of the tippingpaper (filter tip cigarettes) or past the tips of the metal pins for non-filter tip cigarettes

3.3
batch of cigarettes specimensset of 40 determinations
NOTE This is a “test” as defined in EN ISO 12863.
4Requirements
No more than 25 % of a batch of cigarettes specimens to be tested shall burn through their full length. Theassessment shall be carried out according to EN ISO 12863. The determination shall be carried out on10 layers of filter paper as standard substrate specified in EN ISO 12863.
